JOB DESCRIPTION:

Staff office assistant work which includes limited clerical activities. These activities include, but are not limited to, taking and directing calls and messages, the operation of a personal computer for entering information into a data base as well as retrieving information in the preparation of timely, accurate reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • HS/GED with one year work experience involving data input, operation of computer and keyboard as well as similar data entry equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation in order to assist the preparation of documents and all types of reports.
  • Knowledge of data management techniques.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of math.
  • Knowledge of computer skills, including Windows and Word for Windows, as well as selected software related to the assigned unit.
  • Knowledge if appropriate phone etiquette.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, productive and effective working relationships with staff and public.
  • Ability to communicate using speaking, hearing and vision skills.
